In the beginning of our first Covid-19 lockdown here in Australia, I planted these beautiful ranunculus corms. Over the days, weeks and months that passed, we came out of lockdown, our city of Melbourne went back into lockdown, then as numbers got worse, into even tighter lockdown where we couldn’t go more than 5km from our homes. And then only for buying food or essentials like visiting the doctor. It was a strange time that I never imagined experiencing in a country like Australia. All through this time, the garden kept me occupied. I’d go out into the garden and see what was growing, the Winter bulbs, the blossom trees as Spring approached, then finally as Spring arrived, these beauties. Planted at the start of our first lockdown, and picked on the day our second lockdown eased. Mother Nature giving us hope and beauty as always, and helping us look forward.
